Property Maintenance Code

The International Property Maintenance Code set out minimum maintenance requirements for existing structures and surrounding property in Glasgow. Property maintenance promotes safety and sanitation of:

• Structural and Weather Resistance Performance
• Vacant Structures and Land
• Surrounding Property
• Light and Ventilation
• Occupancy Limits
• Plumbing Requirements
• Mechanical and Electrical Requirements
• Means of Egress and Fire Safety Mechanisms

Violations may be reported by phone or be exposed by regular target inspections and roaming by Code Enforcement Officers.

Code Enforcement may receive Orders to:

• Repair/Demolish Substandard Structures
• Inoperable Vehicle, Debris or Eye Sore Removal
• Abate Overgrown Weeds, Shrubbery or Lawns
• Apply Fines pursuant to Code Enforcement Board Final Orders
