Glasgow Parks & Recreation Re-Opening Announcement

For Immediate Release: May 18, 2020

Glasgow Parks & Recreation (GPR)

Re-opening announcement

Overview:

Like many agencies around the Country, we’ve been working hard on a plan to re-open the Parks Facilities & Programs that we offer here at the Glasgow Parks & Recreation Department.  Currently, GPR is creating our plan based on CDC / Federal / State / Local Guidance, National Recreation & Park Association and Kentucky Recreation & Park Society Recommendations.  It should be noted that GPR is on the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society Taskforce to give recommended guidance to the Governor’s Office by May 22, 2020 regarding various aspects of city and county youth sport, recreational facility, and programming guidance.  As of Thursday May 14, 2020, the Governor’s Office has not issued any plans regarding public recreation / government-controlled properties.

The information in the full document was created / based upon the current operational capacity of GPR, current funding levels of GPR, current command structure and continuity of command system of GPR, current local health department, Mayor (Harold Armstrong), state, federal – CDC, NRPA & KRPS guidance and recommendations.  Also, the plan is still a works in progress as the ever changing guidelines & recommendations are changing on a weekly basis.

As of Friday May 22, 2020 we will implement the following openings/changes to the Parks Facilities:

All (5) City Parks will be open on a 7 day a week schedule, however; there will still be quite a few restrictions in place due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.  See below charts for information on each park location.

-We ask that everyone going out into the parks to do their part and practice safe social distancing, if you’re sick stay home, and be responsible.

-Each park will have various signs out reminding people of the different facilities that are closed in those particular parks.  Also, there will be Orange Temporary Fencing around closed areas, and/or signage in a few areas.

-*At Gorin Park, the front part of the Park (Main St. entrance) to the Tennis Courts will be completely closed as there is quite a bit of construction work being done in that area.  Please stay out of those areas*.

Disclaimer:

These polices and recommendations may change at anytime due to new guidance and recommendations from the local, state, or federal government level.  Glasgow Parks & Rec (GPR) continues to monitor all guidance daily for updates.
